Week Twenty-seven: The Mission

It's not entirely a mystery why I lost two lbs. a couple of weeks ago and promptly gained it back. It did take me a few days to sort out what must've happened, but I think I've narrowed things down. The week before last, my freezer was stocked with Drumsticks. You know the kind I'm talking about - those tasty, nutty morsels of chocolatey-caramelly goodness. The week before that, nary a Drumstick in sight. I was trying to be "good" that particular week by buying Fudgsicles instead. The one-stick kind. Could this minor change in frozen dairy treats be the reason my workouts actually had a chance at doing their job? I think so. I can easily eat two or three Drumsticks in a sitting, whereas the Fudgsicles weren't as satisfying so the box was around for awhile.

This is one of the not-so-pretty realities of life 50 lbs. past a healthy body weight. When no holds are barred when it comes to cravings. I've had a Drumstick habit off and on for about two years. Well, no more! NO MORE!!! I declare my independence from ice cream this very day! The ice cream is gone, the Drumsticks are gone, the Fudgsicles are gone, the Blue Bell Chocolate Cherry Bars are gone... This is my July 4, 1776!

Fitness
Walk 30 minutes a day, four times during the week.
Walk 50 minutes a day, both days during the weekend.

Reducing
Ice cream: I love you, but you done me wrong. Ice cream and frozen dairy treats of any kind are herewith banished from the Jitterbug household.

Grooming
Here's the next step in the 1946 morning grooming routine. After drinking a glass of water, brushing your teeth, washing your face, and powdering your nose, you're to dress up your lips with a coat of lipstick.

Put on some bright, pretty lipstick, making the edges neat and blotting away the excess.

The ice cream thing is going to be excruciating, but I'm a bit nervous about the lipstick, too. Can I pull it off without looking like a clown? We'll see...

The trick to lipstick is finding the color that is not too bright till you get use to it and want to venture out. Go with natural tones and there are plenty of all natural ones if you care to seek them out. i think even burts bees has a colored lip balm. good for you on the new goals!

I also have an unhealthy relationship with Drumsticks! I have loved them since I was a kid but I purposely don't buy them very often. Too dangerous!

Yay for you. The ice cream truck photo is simply adorable.

If you are really craving ice cream this summer, Skinny Cow makes some good fudge bars with only about 12 grams of sugar or so, and it's a healthy size. Satisfying, but not fattening.

If you're nervous about the lipstick, try a lipstick sheer. Cover Girl makes a product called "Lipslicks Lipgloss," which is very creamy, but gives a nice subtle hint. My favorite always came in a yellow tube. ... Now I want to go out and buy some for myself! It's a good summer product!

Ack, Jeanne and Amber, I went straight for some vintage color this time around --- and it's bright! (I shouldn't be allowed to roam free in a cosmetics aisle!!!) It'll be interesting to see how my coworkers react today...

HBIC, Drumsticks are sooooooo good - and for a person who's got their weight firmly under control I don't think there's anything wrong with an occasional ice cream. For me, for now, I've got to go cold turkey. Definitely dangerous to keep that stuff within arm's reach!

Darla, I love that photo, and I wonder if the customer was buying ice cream for herself or for the family... It must surely have been harder to binge on junk food when you had to buy it in a face-to-face transaction from a vendor. With auto check-out lines these days, it's way to easy to stock up on this stuff!

Ah, yes, drumsticks. I have been trying to curb my baking. I have decided that only three days a week shall we taste my yummy homemade treats, tonight I made this wonderful version of apple dumplings, but now the next two nights will be fresh fruit and black tea. We are all committed to lose around here. I need to start weighing myself, as I usually go by how my clothes fit. Good luck.

Great idea! I'm hoping one day I'll be able to see simple sweets - like fruit - in a whole new light. That'll I'll crave that kind of sweet instead of the deadly kind.
